4 WEEKS BEFORE YOUR MOVE
Contact a DAYNITE MOVING Agent to arrange for an estimate.
Notify all relevant institutions of your new address (banks, credit card companies, drivers license, health card & insurance).
Arrange to have final readings done and utilities disconnected
Arrange to have utilities, cable, internet and phone connected at your new home.
2 WEEKS BEFORE YOUR MOVE
Dispose of all flammables, aerosols, paint, propane tanks, etc.
Start packing if you are planning to do all or some of it yourself. See Packing Tips.
Start using up all extra food stocks, frozen food and canned food, it will reduce the weight of your shipment and your shipping costs.
1 WEEKS BEFORE YOUR MOVE
Arrange for a babysitter if necessary for moving day.
Set up a specific area in your home for items you are taking with you personally.
Finish packing and labeling all boxes with names of rooms you would like them moved into and a listing of what is in the box so that you can access important items easily.
1 DAY BEFORE YOUR MOVE
Empty refrigerator and freezer, defrost and clean.
Finish all your personal packing items.
MOVING DAY
Have these items handy:
Medical supplies
Tools and flashlight
Bedding and towels
Personal supplies (soap, toilet paper, etc)
Important phone numbers
Cleaning supplies
Make sure you have a copy of your bill of lading and tell your mover how to reach you at your destination.
Complete a final inspection of your home with your mover before your mover leaves for your new home.
Make sure you have your payment ready and accessible on your moving day.
